MYSTERY: Where Will Book 13 Take Place?

Kingsisle has released several picture pieces, that when combined, form images of the next world(s) to be visited in Book 13 for Pirate101. A few clues may indicate our upcoming destination.

The first completed image depicts several houses, a lighthouse, an unfinished ship and what appears to be a Ferris wheel.  These items suggest Marleybone will be a part of Book 13.  Although not conclusive, the unfinished ship appears to be of Marleybonian design.  The first official Ferris wheel made it's debut in 1893, roughly the same time that Marleybone in Wizard101 is based on (the Victorian era).  The London Eye (a gigantic Ferris wheel), is one of the most famous Ferris wheels in the world and is synonomous with the city it resides in, London, of which Marleybone is based on.  Finally, if you look real close, in the far background you can see what appears to be a replica of the Tower Bridge.

Additionally,  Rooke indicates the map piece he has needs to be translated and that he has urgent business in Marleybone.  So even if Marleybone is not the next world to be visited, we will likely face Rooke for the map piece in Marleybone within Book 13.

So if Marleybone may not be the next world, what other world could show up in Book 13?

The two giant eagle statues are probably a good indicator of Aquila, which in Latin refers to eagles.  The Roman inspired architecture also compliments previous Aquila themed items, like the statue found in Avery's room.

MYSTERY: Krokotopia Skyway

Recently, the KI community became a buzz with a screen shot depicting a purchase area for Krokotopia in Pirate101.

Was this a textual mistake or developer tool leftover from beta?  Pirates can already visit the Wizard101 worlds of Mooshu and Dragonspyre, so Krokotopia isn't a stretch.  Some other factors may actually lend credibility to the possibility that pirates will be visiting the land of manders.

First, in much of the same way pirates visit Dragonspyre by simply traversing Avernus Skyway, I suspect Krokotopia Skyway will function in a similar manner.  It could still be a full fledged world like Mooshu, but it seems the storyline indicates Aquila, Polaris or Marleybone are the next contenders for a full world.  Krokotopia (if a full world) doesn't currently have a lead into the current storyline.  So if it isn't a full world, what would it connect?  Well, my guess is Aquila, for the second reason below.

Second, Marco Pollo's map accurately depicts Dragonspyre's Avernus Skyway as the link between Monquista and Valencia.  Therefore the Krokotopia connected to Aquila on Pollo's map should have a corresponding stormgate from or to Krokotopia (and even from Skull Island and Valencia for that matter).

Finally, if you've ever noticed, Avery's room on Skull Island is decorated with themes from Marleybone, Mooshu, Polaris and Aquila.  If you look closely, the Aquila area has a Krokotopian obelisk in it.  Coincidence that Avery's one Krokotopian souvenir is located here or proof of a connection?

MYSTERY: Hieroglyphic Covered Key

Briskbreeze Tower, the first permanent dungeon to feature cheating bosses.  This tower has inspired many spinoffs including the Spiral Geographic Society Warehouse, Waterworks and Tower of the Helephant, but whatever happened to the prophecy relayed by Lieutenant Culpepper?  Since 2009, these mysteries have been left unsolved.

With Orrick Nightglider dropping two sets of keys on one key-ring, we are to assume the bone key releases Lieutenant Culpepper.  Therefore the hieroglyphic key is still missing a lock somewhere.  Hieroglyphics are synonymous with ancient Egypt, so it is a safe bet to assume that the hieroglyphic key has something to do with that "next step."  What exactly does the key covered in hieroglyphics unlock?

Well the most famous theory seems to be another cheating dungeon located somewhere in Krokotopia; it just hasn't been revealed to us yet.  The Spiral Geographic Society Warehouse is located in Marleybone and is associated with the Celestia storyline.  The Waterworks is located in Crab Alley and is loosely affiliated with the storyline there.  The Tower of the Helephant is not associated with any current storyline (unless you count how Headmistress knows about the Heart of the Helephant), but does allude to a possible side story involving the world of Yago.  So a future world certainly has a background story to help lay the foundation.

What about the last mystery?  Krokotopia is the next step to what?  The Spiral is made of many different worlds, so how can something be coming to the Spiral?  Is there more than one Spiral out there?  It clearly isn't Morganthe, she is from Avalon/Zafaria which is in our Spiral.  It would seem there is a greater evil out there beyond Morganthe....beyond our Spiral.  But what will cause it to come to our Spiral?

MYSTERY: The Gate in the Haunted Cave

The Death gate in the Haunted Cave has mystified many.  What is the purpose of a decorated gate that currently is "locked."  Why are so many intrigued by this particular gate, given the multitude of doors that remain inaccessible throughout the Spiral.  What secrets or hidden dangers lie behind it?

Does the cave contain more powerful necromancy beyond the gate? Or is it simply a coincidence that the Elder Seer greets Death students in this same clearing?

Or could it lead to Sunken City or Nightside where the Death school ended up after Malistaire caused it to disappear from it's former location with the other Ravenwood schools.

Why would they be connected? Well, the Elder Seer appears outside the gate in the Haunted Cave, but the Elder Seer is also connected to Nightside and is known by Mortis.

Additionally, by looking at the map it appears that the Haunted Cave leads in the direction towards Nightside.  Similar to how the Dark Cave connects Cyclops Lane and Firecat Alley across separate tiers of Wizard City, possibly the mysterious Death gate in the Haunted Cave does the same thing between Triton Avenue and Nightside.

That is just one theory.  Leave a comment and share more!

MYSTERY: The Eye of Bartleby

What ever happened to Bartleby’s Eye of History? We defeated Malistaire, but never recovered the eye. His sister, Lady Nightstar (Grandmother Raven), never brought up the stolen gift during Wintertusk either!
Let me understand this, an eye that contains all the secrets of the past and no mention of it since it was stolen almost four years ago? To me, that sounds like a pretty impressive lost treasure to obtain.  Even if we can’t “activate” the powers ourselves, I’m sure some folks in Ravenwood might pay a pretty penny for it!  With millions of pirates running around the Spiral later this year, it would certainly be in the interest of a treasure hunter to enlist the aid of some unscrupulous, no-good, hired hands to hunt down one of the oldest relics in the Spiral (no offense Bartleby).
Or has the answer always been right in front of us?

If not, where could Bartleby’s missing eye be? Leave a comment on your theory and check out The Friendly Necromancer’s interesting theory of why it was stolen in the first place.  It is a couple of years old, but still a great read today.  Check it out here.

Mystery: Where has Captain Avery Been?

According to Captain Avery's official bio on Pirate101.com...

"Horace Avery is famous throughout the Spiral as one of the most successful Pirates in history - he managed to retire with both his fortune and life intact. Avery amassed a heap of plunder during the Polarian Wars, raiding Monquistan treasure fleets."

However, if you take a look at some of the "treasures" he has acquired at his house, it seems he has either been to more places than just Monquista or simply got lucky with what the Monquistan ships were carrying.

Above image taken from Pirate101.com (images of Skull Island).

That's right, ol' Captain Avery has done some thieving of Mooshu too! I wonder which other worlds have given the great pirate leader a five finger discount? Leave a comment and tell me which other worlds you think have some treasure that found its way into Avery's possesion.
